Delilah Duck's Rainbow Discovery
Delilah the duckling loved her life on the pond. Every morning, she'd wake up to the sparkle of sunlight on the water, and every evening, she'd snuggle under Mama Duck's wing to watch the fireflies twinkle in the night sky. But there was one thing Delilah longed to see – a rainbow. Her siblings would quack excitedly about the colorful arches that sometimes appeared after a rain shower. But Delilah had never been lucky enough to witness one herself. One cloudy afternoon, a big storm rolled in. The wind howled, making the pond ripple and churn. Delilah huddled close to Mama Duck, hiding under her fluffy feathers. When the storm finally passed, the clouds began to part, revealing a sliver of clear blue sky. Suddenly, Mama Duck exclaimed, "Look, Delilah! It's a rainbow!" Delilah peeked out from under her wing and gasped. There, stretching across the sky, was a magnificent rainbow. It was a dazzling mix of colors – red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. It looked like someone had painted a giant smile across the clouds! Delilah had never seen anything so beautiful. She waddled closer to the water, mesmerized by the vibrant colors reflected on the surface. She dipped her beak in, pretending to scoop up a taste of the rainbow. Suddenly, splash! A little green frog named Fred popped out of the water next to her. "Wowzers! That's some fancy painting in the sky!" he croaked. Delilah giggled. "It's a rainbow, Fred! Mama says it appears after the rain." Fred tilted his head. "Rainbow? Never heard of one of those. Can you eat it?" Delilah shook her head. "No, it's not for eating. It's just beautiful to look at." They spent the rest of the afternoon admiring the rainbow together. As the sun began to set, the colors slowly faded, leaving only a soft glow in the sky. "Don't worry, Delilah," Fred said with a wink. "Rain comes and goes, and so do rainbows. But I bet you'll see another one soon!" The next day, the sun shone brightly. Delilah splashed happily in the pond, remembering the magical sight of the rainbow. And sure enough, a few days later, after a brief rain shower, another rainbow appeared. This time, Delilah shared the wonder with all her friends, quacking excitedly and describing the beautiful colors. From then on, Delilah knew that even though the pond was her home, there was a whole world of amazing things to discover, waiting just beyond the water's edge. And with every rainbow, she was reminded of the magic that could appear after even the stormiest weather.
