Finley the Forgetful Dolphin
Finley the dolphin loved exploring the sparkling ocean. He'd zip and zag through kelp forests, chase playful schools of fish, and even peek at the colorful coral reefs below. But Finley had one big problem - he was forgetful! One sunny morning, Finley was racing his best friend, Maya, through the waves. "Catch me if you can!" he squeaked, leaving a trail of bubbles behind him. Maya giggled and chased after him, their fins flashing in the sunlight. Suddenly, Finley stopped. "Oh no!" he squeaked, his smile fading. "Where are we?" Maya swam up beside him. "We're right by the shipwreck, Finley," she said, pointing with her fin. "Remember? We were going to see if any new fish moved in there today." Finley scratched his head with his flipper. "Oh right! The shipwreck! Silly me, I forgot again." This happened all the time. Finley would forget where they were playing, forget which direction to swim home, even forget his favorite snack was seaweed, not jellyfish (which made his tummy grumpy for a whole day). One day, while exploring a new part of the reef, Finley saw a group of dolphins unlike any he'd ever seen. They were grey with splotches of white and black, and they clicked and whistled in a way he couldn't understand. Finley, ever friendly, swam closer. "Hello!" he squeaked. But the other dolphins just stared at him, their clicks growing louder. Finley felt a pang of loneliness. He wanted to make new friends, but how could he if he couldn't even remember their language? Just then, an idea popped into Finley's forgetful head. He grabbed a handful of colorful pebbles from the seabed and started clicking them together, mimicking the other dolphins' sounds. He spun and twirled, using his whole body to communicate. The other dolphins watched in surprise, then slowly, they started clicking and twirling along with him! Soon, the whole group was playfully clicking and spinning in a beautiful underwater dance. Even though Finley couldn't understand their words, he knew they were having fun. He learned that sometimes, friendship could be built without even speaking the same language! From that day on, Finley didn't feel so bad about forgetting things. He knew he might not remember everything, but he'd never forget the joy of making new friends, even in the most unexpected ways. And whenever he felt forgetful, he'd grab a few pebbles and remember the wonderful way he danced his way into new friendships.
