Trick or Treat - Monsters on the Street
In a cozy house at the edge of Spooky Lane lived three best friends: Max the Mummy, Bella the Bat, and Fuzzy the Werewolf. They were so excited because tonight was Halloween, and they were going trick-or-treating for the very first time! As they got ready, Fuzzy looked worried. "What if we scare the kids in the neighborhood?" he asked, looking at his furry paws. Bella fluttered her wings nervously. *Flutter, flutter!* "Maybe we should stay home," she squeaked. But Max had an idea. He grabbed some old sheets and started wrapping himself up even more. *Rustle, rustle, wrap!* "We can cover up and pretend we're wearing costumes!" he said. So Bella put on a black cape. Fuzzy found a big, fluffy sweater. They looked at each other and giggled. They didn't look very scary at all! When it got dark, the three friends set out with their trick-or-treat bags. The streets were filled with children in colorful costumes. At the first house, they walked up to the door. *Ding-dong!* went the doorbell. "Trick or treat!" they said together. The lady who answered smiled wide. "Oh my! What wonderful costumes!" she said happily, dropping candy into their bags. Max, Bella, and Fuzzy looked at each other. They were confused but happy! At the next house, a little boy dressed as a superhero answered the door. *Knock-knock!* they had said. "Wow! You look so real!" he said, reaching out to touch Fuzzy's fur. Fuzzy grinned, showing his big teeth. The little boy clapped with delight. "Cool fangs!" As they went from house to house, everyone loved their "costumes." People asked how they made their wings look so real and how they got their fur so fluffy. *Ding-dong! Knock-knock!* At every house, they got more candy and more compliments. Bella started to enjoy fluttering her wings for the neighborhood kids. *Flutter, flutter!* Max showed off his bandage-wrapped arms. "Look how bendy I am!" he said. And Fuzzy let children pet his soft fur. "So fluffy!" they all said. By the end of the night, their bags were full of treats, and their hearts were full of joy. As they walked home, Max unwrapped some of his extra bandages. *Unwrap, unwrap!* Bella took off her cape. Fuzzy pulled off his big sweater. "You know what?" said Bella. "I think being ourselves was the best costume of all!" Fuzzy nodded happily. "Everyone liked us just the way we are!" Max grinned his biggest grin. "Next year, let's just go as ourselves. We're the friendliest monsters in town!" The three friends learned something very important that night. Sometimes the things that make us different are the things that make us special. From that Halloween on, they never worried about being themselves again. And every year, the children in the neighborhood looked forward to seeing their favorite friendly monsters on trick-or-treat night! The End
